12.10.2011 – Ghent, Belgium
Codit successfully guided the Belgian government to launch its
Visa system within the European playground. This so called
"European Visa Information System (VIS)", a system for the exchange
of data on short-stay visas among Schengen States, went live in
Europe today. The goal of this European Visa initiative is to
quickly check visa requests at the borders, which will facilitate
an easy access to all Schengen states and improve all controls
beyond European borders.
The Belgian VIS is already operational between Belgian partners
since the end of 2010 and was a co-project realized by Codit and
RealDolmen; read more about this project in the Belgian VIS
reference case (see also downloads attached to this
article). The Belgian platform load will amount to 5 million
BizTalk messages each month; response times towards the callers
need to be less than 5 seconds.
