Fluiconnecto, a multi-national company that specializes in parts for hydraulic applications, offers their customers hyper-personalized pricing on thousands of products through their Azure-based e-commerce platform.
Challenge
Fluiconnecto wanted to offer their clients its personalized pricing model on their huge product range through an e-commerce platform. The challenge was finding a backend system that not only was capable of e-commerce transactions on their ten thousand products but also finding one with the capability to calculate individualized prices for thousands of clients.
Clients previously had to order parts via catalogs, phone, or dropping by their nearest shop. Fluiconnecto wanted to offer customers a self-service webshop that also offers individualized pricing for each client.
Fluiconnecto’s backend consisted of two Microsoft Dynamics AX systems for client product, inventory and pricing data. The data from these systems needed to be exposed via an API platform.
The company realized they needed a technical partner with strong Microsoft expertise to help them find the right solution. That’s where Codit stepped in.

Approach
Codit took the lead and built a hybrid integration platform, which uses APIs to expose Fluiconnecto’s data in a secure environment. The price calculations are now replicated on an Azure platform, which uses cached data to make calculations at lightning speed.
To support Fluiconnecto’s web shop, Codit built a hybrid integration platform. The on-premises part consists of their existing Microsoft Dynamics AX and Microsoft BizTalk Server. The cloud component consists of a brand-new Microsoft Azure PaaS platform. This new platform was then used to develop several APIs that exposed their enterprise data.
However, Microsoft Dynamics AX isn’t designed to handle large-scale external requests. Codit found a solution to stream data from the two Dynamics AX systems onto the Azure platform to be cached.
Codit then replicated business logic for the price calculations onto the Azure platform. With the cached data and the replicated calculation logic, Azure was able to quickly perform pricing calculations.
The Azure PaaS platform delivers optimal speed and scalability to the front-end of the webshop. It also allows for data to be sent back into Microsoft Dynamics AX systems in cases such as when a new client signs up.
Results
Fluiconnecto’s webshop has been a huge success with their clients, and their team are also impressed with the security and flexibility of the solution, “The system is secure, resilient and flexible enough to allow us to expose data not just to the webshop, but to other parties too, if required,” said Krimo Maadi, Group E-Commerce Manager. Fluiconnecto plan to expand its webshop to all of their European branches in the near future.
Codit delivered a secure, scalable, enterprise-grade hybrid platform which requires no investment in hardware or maintenance. Furthermore, the platform has a generic integration layer that makes it easy to power a webshop for each of their European branches.
Clients can now conveniently search for parts, get individualized pricing and order the parts all from their computer. The APIs make it possible for Fluiconnecto to forge strong partnerships in the future.
