Global Windows Azure Bootcamp 29 March 2014: Computing for charity

Introducing "Global Windows Azure Bootcamp 29 March 2014: Computing for charity"

“A free one-day global training event on Azure, from the community to the community…”

What?

The Global Windows Azure Bootcamp is a free one-day training event taking place on the 29th of March 2014 in over 50 countries worldwide.

This event is driven by all the local Windows Azure community enthusiasts and experts. It consists of a full day of Windows Azure sessions and labs based on the Windows Azure Training Kit.

GWAB is an initiative of Windows Azure MVPs Maarten Balliauw, Magnus Mårtensson, Mike Martin, Alan Smith & Michael Wood.

Charity?

This year, the organizers decided to put all this computing power at work, supporting medical research on diabetes, by hosting a globally distributed lab, in which attendees of the event will deploy virtual machines in Windows Azure. Those will help analyse data related to specific sugars called glycans, being studied as an early marker for Type 2 diabetes.

More details can be found here: http://global.windowsazurebootcamp.com/charity/

Where?

There are over 135 locations registered worldwide. You can find an overview of all locations on the following website: http://global.windowsazurebootcamp.com/locations/

Belgium?

In Belgium there will be 2 locations available for this global bootcamp: Genk and Kortrijk. Each location will feature two parallel tracks: developing and regular sessions.

If you need a place to work on the research lab or your own Windows Azure project, there will be Windows Azure experts available for answering tough questions or to give you deep dive explanations on certain technologies.

Feel free to join any (or both) of these tracks!

The Kortrijk venue will be hosted by 2 community lads of Codit with the help of AZUG: Tom Kerkhove and Glenn Colpaert.

You can register for the Belgian venues on following websites:

Codit?

In the context of the 2222 campaign we did at the beginning of the year. Codit again decided to support this event by donating 222,2€ to the Global Windows Azure Bootcamp research lab.
This donation amount allows us to run 925 cores for the entire duration of the Global Windows Azure Bootcamp event in Kortrijk.

Cheers,

Colpaert Glenn & Kerkhove Tom
